Inner life

Human anatomy is a system of an extreme complexity. Still, we take the daily functioning of our body for granted. While the outer shape of the body can be seen easily, viewing it’s inner workings is much more difficult. We can get information about our inner body by using different media. Yet, there is a disconnect which makes it difficult for us to picture our own body in conjunction with the information. To address this distant perception, the design “inner life” stages this complex dimension. It provides anatomical imaging in a plastic comparison: Clothing that is seen as a second skin and allows a direct reference to the self. It depicts the anatomy of the human body and makes scientific information available to the layman. Each garment allows various ways to “look” into the body. The outer surface does not tell anything about the unusual interior. Only by rolling up or revealing, does the previously invisible become visible.
