Active Vessels
To keep food fresh for longer, small packets are used in “active” food packaging, called adsorbent. These adsorbent materials are antibacterial or moisture-adjusting to the food. Notes with the inscription “Do not eat!” arouse skepticism among consumers. However, in addition to degrading materials, there are natural materials with excellent properties beeing used. These includes minerals that possess suitable surfaces to adsorb gases or liquids. In this project, the research goal was to extend the application possibilities of this adsorbent. The hope is to create an “active storage” for domestic use.
